Ciprofloxacin and Dexamethasone Otic Route is administered by applying the ear drops into the ear canal. For patients with middle ear infection with tubes, gently press the small projection in front of the outside opening of the ear 5 times in a pumping motion. For patients with outer ear infection (swimmer's ear), gently pull the outer ear lobe upward and backward to allow the ear drops to flow down into the ear canal. Stay on your side for at least one minute before turning over. Repeat the process if both ears are infected.
